THURSDAY, MARCH 9TH – PERFORMANCE AT EDELWEISS LODGE AND RESORT – GARMISCH, GERMANY:
Michael did a great job of driving through storms with blinding rain and wind last night. We arrived at 9 am as scheduled and had no issues getting through the gate. Dave – our main POC – had our room keys waiting for us so check in was quick and easy. The Breakfast buffet was available until 10 am so everyone went in there to eat. It’s been years since I was here and everything is still breathtakingly beautiful. This is one of four resorts owned by the military around the world. It is a “sanctuary” for military and their families only to get away for some R&R. The other 3 are located on Waikiki Beach, DisneyWorld and Seoul, South Korea.
After breakfast, everyone split up with some going into town, some going back to sleep and some going to the gym. Don and I just went to “work”. The show will be at “Zuggy’s” located on the lower level of the resort. The production crew was quickly getting everything loaded in and we seemed to be running on time.
The musicians and girls did a quick sound check. Then Don and I picked up their dinner orders and got them delivered to their rooms. Show time was at 8 pm tonight. The venue can only allow 200 attendees and the place was PACKED. Standing room only and even that was elbow to elbow.
Girls did a quick M&G with some of the hotel executives. The base commander at USAG Bavaria had called our POC and told him she loves their music and was going to attend. Unfortunately, she was called away to Hohenfelds. It was another great, high energy show. We announced about having the girls stay around and take photos with everyone and told the where they should go. At first there was only a couple of people in line but then over 100 showed up.
Another great show for 200 attendees. We get to sleep in a hotel bed tonight and depart to Italy at 10:30 am. Weather has cleared up and we get to take the scenic route to Vicenza.
