MONDAY, JUNE 20TH, 2022 – PERFORMANCE IN SALZBURG, AUSTRIA:
No time to work out before leaving at 10 am today! I went by and looked at their fitness room and WOW! There was more equipment than I have in my gym at home. All the equipment looked new but everything was crowded into a very small space! Had an omelet before departing for the 2+ hour bus ride. We are at a Best Western hotel in Salzburg. It is a really nice hotel but the front desk staff were incredibly rude. Jurgen had been told that we could check in early with the priority being to give Howard and David their rooms upon arrival. Did not happen. So we stored luggage and went our separate ways. I walked across the street with some of the guys to a really nice shopping center. Did not buy anything though. Rooms were all ready when I got back to hotel. I messaged everyone and Jim helped me move all the luggage back to the lobby. Only had 30 minutes before we had to leave for soundcheck. It is another gorgeous venue but has a challenging layout. For 1 1/2 hours, Jurgen and I rode every elevator at least twice searching for a suitable dressing room for Howard and David that did not involve going up several sets of stairs. We finally had to compromise and use the bus and just take them straight to the stage for the show. The good news is there was an ice cream store next door. One of the flavors is “Mozart” and it is all 3 of my favorite flavors rolled together — pistachio, marzipan and chocolate chunks!!!! We felt we deserved a treat after the day we were having and it did not disappoint!!!! Sound check ran on time and afterwards everyone ate “dinner” in the Green Room”. The venue had catered in schnitzel , potato salad and lots of snacks. Had a couple of hours at the hotel before going back for the performance. Bellamys had a quick radio interview and then a meet and greet. Then it was show time. Another great audience who sang along with every song!!! The sound tonight was exceptional!
