THURSDAY, JUNE 16TH – AUSTRIA TO GERMANY: Up at 6 am to get in a jog before we leave for Germany. Weather is perfect – 60 degrees, no humidity. There is a beautiful path along the river that runs for miles and miles. I got in a great run along that path while most of Graz was still sleeping. Helped to run off some of my frustration about not having WIFI last night at the hotel. I snapped a couple of photos on the way back to the hotel. Then showered and had an amazing breakfast before departing the hotel…another great omelet! The tour bus picked us up on time and a man we had worked with previously had ridden down to escort us back. He spoke perfect English and it’s a good thing because the tour bus driver only spoke and understood German. It was a nice bus and they had put sandwiches, chips, cookies, cheese, candy, bread, drinks of all kinds on the bus for us. Bad news is, there was no WiFi on the bus and no electrical plugs. I could have easily used my T-Mobile hotspot for WiFi but was not able to work because there was no plug for my laptop. Jurgen met us in the lobby to say good-bye and he said he did not have WiFi in his room either. We told the front desk so that hopefully they will correct the situation for future guests! We departed at 11 am and the drive was about 9 hours but would have been less if the driver had not stopped every hour to smoke a cigarette. Still easier than flying! We stopped for lunch and I had a great Currywurst. Arrived at the hotel at around 8 pm and Kurt – our promoter – was waiting for us. Got everyone checked in and we had to eat dinner because the last “seating” in the restaurant as for 9 pm. I remember what excellent food this hotel had when we were here several years ago and they definitely still do! I had wiener schnitzel again and it was just as good as the one I had last night in Austria. At least the WiFi works great in my hotel room. Have been working for hours now and it is after 2 am so time to get some sleep! Jude
